Conception, development and testing of a new compound intended for the production of various manufactured items used for dispensing cosmetic products.
Formac has studied a range of specific compounds for the medical and cosmetic sectors that improve the performance of acetal resins (POM HOMO/COPO). Formac’s customer had an issue with an excessive number of types of acetal resins necessary for the realisation of the various manufactured items which differed from each other in terms of fluidity and tribological properties that drastically reduced the efficiency of the moulding department due to lack of homogeneity and poor repeatability of the processing parameters. Formac has developed a series of POM compounds for universal use specific for the medical and cosmetic sectors that fulfil the various rheological and tribological requirements. The adopted technical solution was the use of an acetal resin with specific MFI modified with innovative fluorinated polymers other than the classic PTFE and similar. The result was the resolution of the critical issues related to the geometry of the piece, the cavity filling problems caused by thin wall thicknesses, reduction of the friction coefficients and increase in abrasion resistance.
