Conception, development and testing of new material for the realisation of gears
The problem posed to the Formac technicians consisted in the fact that the product, a gear coupled to a metal pulley, showed rapid wear in operation, resulting in excessively long downtime for its replacement. Formac has created a Nylon PA 66 polymer-based compound grafted with carbon fibre and fluorinated polymer which has no noise, low friction coefficient and excellent abrasion resistance.
