Study, development and testing of a new biodegradable polymer for the realisation of food trays

The request arises from having identified a specific emerging requirement in the food sector which concerns the need to have materials with certain mechanical characteristics available, especially regarding flexibility, in addition the specificity of being biodegradable and suitable for contact with food.
The project aims to study and develop a new biodegradable polymer, modified in its elastic properties, suitable for use in the food packaging sector. Formac achieved its objective by providing a compound which was also suitable for food packaging that requires a delta of the hot/cold cycle between– 45° and +80° in the transport and storage processes.
Field of application: Food & Beverage
